Maid found dead in Negros subdivision; police suspect rape

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines -- The body of an 18-year-old house helper who had been missing for 16 days was found Sunday at a subdivision in Barangay 21, Victorias City, Negros Occidental, police said on Tuesday.

Victorias City police investigators said the victim identified as Jessica Doce was in an advanced state of decomposition and could have been raped as residents found her half-naked in a secluded cogonal area at about 7 a.m. Sunday.

Superintendent Norberto Boston, Victorias police chief, said on Tuesday they invited for questioning Doce's boyfriend, Mayo Aguilar, who was with her when she was last seen.

Aguilar denied any involvement in the crime, Boston said.

Police investigators learned that the victim and her companions, including her boyfriend, went home after 11 p.m. on April 26 after attending a fiesta celebration in Victorias City.

Doce and Aguilar separated from their companions upon reaching the Villa Cristina Subdivision in the village, police said.

The victim had worked as a house helper of a certain Boy Trecho in Victorias City from April 18 to April 25.

Boston said they invited the security guard of the subdivision for questioning.

Meanwhile, the Victorias police freed Aguilar Sunday afternoon after he was questioned.

The body of Doce was buried on Sunday.
