LUCENA CITY, Philippines--At least 20 suspected New People's Army rebels set fire to the cell site of Globe Telecom Inc. in Barangay Tabon-Tabon, Irosin, Sorsogon early Sunday, field reports to the Southern Luzon Armed Forces Command here said.
Solcom spokesman Maj. Randolph Cabangbang said the control room of the cell site was burned down at 12:45 a.m. The rebels made off with the .38-caliber revolver of security guard Apolinario Gabion, one radio and one mobile phone.
Meanwhile, police and soldiers manning a checkpoint on the Maharlika Highway at Barangay Villahermosa in Daraga, Albay, arrested four alleged of the NPA in Sorsogon province.
A military report identified the alleged rebels as Andres Hubilla alias Magnoy Bunso, Eddie Alemania alias Louie Taba, Crispolo Alindogan alias Cris and Joy Gajo Ladim alias Jell.
The report said two of the four, who were on board a black car, had standing warrants for their arrest. The military, however, did not say who they were.
