CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines?Chief Superintendent Samuel Pagdilao is the new director of the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group after serving as PNP Calabarzon regional director for six months.
Pagdilao made a formal announcement of his transfer to the CIDG at a conference of police officials in the region at noon Thursday, a member of the regional director?s staff said.
?We just got the confirmation. Effective April 8, Samuel Pagdilao Jr. will assume as director of the CIDG in Camp Crame,? said the staff member, who requested anonymity as he was not authorized to make the announcement.
Pagdilao, a member of the Philippine Military Academy Class of ?79, replaces Director Leon Nilo de la Cruz, who is retiring on Friday.
Sources in the PNP said the formal turnover at the CIDG headquarters would take place at noon on Friday.
According to the same source, the incumbent Quezon City Police District director, Chief Supt. Benjardi Mantele, is taking over the command of the 9,000-strong police force in Calabarzon, which comprises the provinces of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon.
Mantele is from the PMA Class of 1980.
The source said the formal turnover at the regional police headquarters here would be held on Monday.
