MANILA, Philippines -- Presumptive president-elect Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III has rued about the pitfalls of being a bachelor, in so far as the impact of income taxes on a president?s salary (between P45,000 and P60,000 a month) is concerned.
``Since I have no dependents, the government automatically gets half of whatever I will get. But since I know a lot of people will come to me for help, I?m sure my money will have something to go to,?? said Aquino.
Aquino had a ``movie date?? with current squeeze, Valenzuela City Councilor Shalani Soledad, last Friday night at Rockwell Mall in Makati City for the premiere of a documentary film on the last election, titled "Noy.??
But he jestingly complained about his nephew, Kris Aquino?s eldest child, Joshua, who was seated to his right and held his hands during the screening (Soledad sat to his left).
``Kanina medyo mahirap katabi si Joshua. Medyo alam ninyo lightweight yan, kung gusto niya holding hands ang kamay niya sa taas ng kamay mo. Pero masaya (It was a bit difficult to have Joshua as seatmate. You all know he?s a lightweight but he wants to hold hands. But it was fun),?? said Aquino about the screening.
Aquino said he welcomed his time with his family after months of campaigning and weeks of waiting for the proclamation of winners. ``It?s good to have some time and think of other things. It?s really different to have everyone around in a non-tense atmosphere,?? said Aquino.
Aquino said he was impressed by the film and its creators for tackling a ``not simple and somewhat heavy?? topic.
