MANILA, Philippines ? President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has appointed Annabelle Abaya as presidential adviser on the peace process, according to a radio report quoting Malacañang.

Abaya, a member of the GRP panel negotiating with the National Democratic Front, was quoted as saying that the resumption of peace talks between the government and the NDF and the government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) would be her priorities.

Abaya replaces former national police chief Avelino Razon, who resigned to run for mayor in Manila in the 2010 elections.
