MANILA, Philippines—Military vehicles, assault speedboats and rubber boats have been off to flooded areas in Pangasinan and Nueva Ecija to help victims of tropical storm "Pepeng" (international codename: Parma), Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) chairman and Senator Richard Gordon announced on Friday.
Gordon said two Red Cross vehicles, four heavy duty trucks of US marines, two M35 vehicles, two assault speedboats, one rubber boat special forces of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, two Marines amphibian vehicles, and five vans were on the way to Pangasinan.
Four rubber boats will also be sent to Nueva Ecija, Gordon said.
"About to jump off also is one Red Cross aluminum boat from PNRC," he said in a statement.
Gordon said two Red Cross rubberboats and one from the Pangasinan had been "operating" since Thursday night to help the victims of the calamity.
