MANILA, Philippines ? Robbers did not take a holiday on Friday and held up passengers of two commuter buses in separate incidents in Mandaluyong City and Taytay, Rizal.
In a minute or two, four men were able to run away with the bags and other valuables of at least 10 passengers on a Manila-bound bus on the Manila-East Road in Taytay town.
And half an hour later, another group of robbers struck and held up a bus on EDSA near Reliance Street in Mandaluyong City.
Superintendent Carlito Briones, Taytay police chief, said four men pretending to be passengers flagged down the RRCG Line bus as it was approaching Tikling, the boundary of Taytay and Pasig City.
Immediately after boarding the bus, two of the four pulled out guns and announced the heist. At gunpoint, the robbers ordered the driver to pull over and then slipped into a sack almost all the passengers? belongings.
Briones noted that the robbery happened ?in a flash,? taking the robbers only a minute to board and get off the bus.
Senior Superintendent Carlos de Sagun, Mandaluyong police chief, also narrated a similar incident on EDSA where four men posing as passengers robbed at least 20 people inside the Philippine Corinthian Bus.
The robbers, also carrying a sack, took off with the passengers' belongings, including cellphones, wallets, and the bus? earnings.
