MANILA, Philippines—The remnants of the notorious Alvin Flores robbery group struck again and took the automated teller machine (ATM) from a gasoline station on the South Luzon Expressway before dawn Wednesday, a police official said on Thursday.
In a phone interview, Senior Superintendent Elmer Jamias, Muntinlupa City police chief, said the eight suspects, armed with M16 rifles and wearing “Bitag” t-shirts, forcibly took the cash drawer from the ATM in the Shell gasoline station at 3:04 a.m.
A lone security guard was held at gun point by the suspects while they staged the heist, Jamias said. The five other duty security guards at that time were reportedly unaware of the situation, he added.
Jamias said police are now preparing robbery charges against the suspects, while authorities have yet to determine the amount stolen by the suspects.
The suspects were on board an L-300 van, which they hijacked somewhere in Biñan, Laguna. They first robbed the driver and his companion of their possessions before taking their vehicle.
The two other victims were unhurt, Jamias said.
