MANILA, Philippines—The most wanted car thief in Central Luzon has been arrested in Makati City after posting a newspaper ad for a stolen vehicle of former Ilocos Sur governor Luis “Chavit” Singson, police said Tuesday.
Roger “Ogie” Dominguez, 31, a resident of Mandaluyong City and the alleged leader of the Dominguez carjack group, was nabbed on Monday, said Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group director Chief Superintendent Perfecto Palad.
Dominguez on Monday tried to sell to undercover agents a Toyota Fortuner (with plate number ZHS-953), which he pegged the price in a broadsheet ad at P1.1 million, Palad said.
But it turned out that the Toyota Fortuner was the vehicle forcibly taken by carjackers from the driver of Kimberly Singson, daughter of the former governor, in Quezon City on July 13, Palad said.
Also arrested with Dominguez was his live in partner, he said.
During the buy bust operation, Dominguez attempted to pull his .45 caliber pistol but was subdued by police, Palad said.
