Democracy icons former Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. and former President Corazon “Cory” Cojuangco were married at the Our Lady of Sorrows Parish in Pasay on Oct. 11, 1954. They had five children: Maria Elena (Balsy), Aurora Corazon (Pinky), Benigno III (Noynoy), Victoria Elisa (Viel) and Kristina Bernadette (Kris). In 2009, the Pasay City Council approved a resolution requesting the National Historical Institute to place a marker at the small church where the late couple was married.—Schatzi Quodala, Inquirer Research
