Girl with tumor needs to undergo chemo

Erica Lei de la Cruz is fighting against the tumor in her brain with only her aunt, Mirasol Norberte, by her side.

“She has been estranged from her mother for three years now while her father is in jail,” Norberte told the Inquirer.

The two recently left Abra to live with a relative in Fairview, Quezon City.

Norberte said that although she has a family of her own, she loves her niece and treats her like her own daughter, which is why she wants to see the 13-year-old girl recover.

According to doctors at Philippine General Hospital, Erica needs to undergo chemotherapy right away in order to prevent the tumor from spreading to her spinal column.

“She finds it difficult to walk now. It breaks my heart to see her that way. She used to be a very jolly person,” Norberte said.
