MANILA Mayor Joseph Estrada showed up on Wednesday at the 3rd National Convention of the Makabayan bloc, a coalition of progressive groups, which endorsed the senatorial bid of Bayan Muna Representative Neri Colmenares.

Estrada arrived at San Andres Sports Complex in Malate, Manila around 2:30 p.m.

Senator Grace Poe is also expected to deliver a speech as guest of honor at 4 p.m.

Former Bayan Muna Representatives Satur Ocampo and Teddy Casiño, former Anakpawis Rep. Rafael Mariano and former Gabriela Rep. Liza Maza were among those who came to show their support for Colmenares.

In his speech, Ocampo said the coalition picked Colmenares to be its senatorial bet in 2016.

“Si Representative Neri Colmenares, ‘Just call him Neri’” he said.

Ocampo said this is the third time that the coalition fielded its senatorial bet.

Ocampo and Casiño both ran and lost in previous senatorial polls.
