A year since battling cancer, Miriam seeks ‘miracle’
Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago says she is seeking a “miracle” a year after she announced that she has stage 4 lung cancer.
In a statement on her Facebook page on Thursday, Santiago asked for the prayers of her supporters so that she can fully recover from the disease.
“I announced that I had lung cancer, stage four, exactly a year ago today. Please continue to pray with me and all cancer patients, as we vanquish this disease. #MiriamFight #HugsForMiriam #ThrowbackThursday,” the post read.
She also posted a “cancer miracle prayer for Miriam” invoking the intercession of St. Peregrine.
In the Roman Catholic faith, St. Peregrine is the patron saint of cancer patients.
