15 hurt in mishap along Maharlika Highway in Quezon province
LUCENA CITY – At least 15 people were injured in a vehicular accident along the Maharlika Highway in Gucama town in Quezon province Saturday morning.
A police report said Simon Peter Belmonte was driving an Isuzu Wagon Hi-Lander towards Bicol, when he fell asleep and accidentally collided with an incoming Toyota Hi-Ace GL Grandia being driven by Alexander Regalario in Barangay (village) Camohaguin around 4:30 a.m.
Regalario and his 14 passengers suffered injuries and were taken to the RAKKK Medical Center in Gumaca town center for treatment.
Belmonte is facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting to serious physical injuries and damage to properties. He is detained at the town’s police jail. DELFIN T. MALLARI JR.
