Solana police chief, aides escape ambush try in Cagayan

TUGUEGARAO CITY – The police chief of Solana town in Cagayan province and his aides survived an ambush Tuesday dawn along Gadu village.

Cagayan police director Sr. Supt. Warren Tolito said the unit led by Sr. Insp. Renz Baloran were attacked while patrolling the area to secure ballot boxes being readied for transport to the town hall.

The police team turned back and took cover inside the Gadu church.
At 2 a.m., the Solana police and Police Provincial Mobile Force Company deployed reinforcement teams to the area.

No one was reported hurt.

A police pursuit against the suspects is ongoing, as of posting.            /kga
