The man who was accused of killing his wife and mutilating her body pleaded guilty to parricide charges on Friday, telling the court that he did not want to tell lies.

Orlando Estrera, who was detained at Quezon City Jail, initially refused to speak to his lawyer from the Public Attorney’s Office during his scheduled arraignment in Branch 100 of the Quezon City Regional Trial Court.

However, when Judge Editha Mina-Aguba started questioning him, the 43-year-old admitted his awareness of the crime he was charged with and the consequences he faced.

“Parricide means killing your spouse or your child. Is this true? Do you admit [your crime]?” the judge asked, to which
Estrera replied: “Yes.”

“You are aware that you would be jailed for life… that you would be taken to [the New Bilibid Prison].”

The accused again answered in affirmative. When asked why he wanted to admit to the crime, he said: “I don’t want to tell lies.”

Estrera told the court that he was guilty and aware that he had killed Hiede, his wife of 16 years, in their house at Barangay Holy Spirit on March 11. Using a 13-inch kitchen knife, he hacked off her limbs and reportedly even ate some of her brain.

Estrera was arrested after neighbors saw him throwing some body parts out of their house.
