Binay urges Duterte admin to finally address ‘endo’ in gov’t agencies
Senator Nancy Binay has called on the administration to address the issue of contractualization among government agencies.
Binay made the remark on Thursday in light of the passage of the “anti-endo” bill at the House of Representatives.
“Sabi ko nga paulit-ulit sa hearing, ang concern ko ‘yung biggest violator ng contractualization is government. ‘Di ba dapat unahin muna ng pamahalaan ‘yung pagsunod against contractualization.” Binay said in an interview.
The senator cited the case of an employee of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) who remained a job order-worker after 32 years.
“Nung budget hearing isipin mo may mga empleyado ang DSWD under job order. Thirty-two years na nagtatrabaho tapos walang benefits ‘yun. So, isipin mo pag nag-retire ‘yun wala talaga siyang makukuha, kasi nga job order ‘yung binigay sa kanya,” the solon said.
Last Monday, the House approved on third and final reading House Bill No. 6908, which seeks to end contractualization.

The measure, she said, also guarantees a probationary worker, who had rendered at least a month of service and who would be terminated ahead of the six-month probation period, a termination pay equivalent to a half-month salary per month of service. /kga
