Couple on drug watch list nabbed in Maguindanao drug bust

A couple on the drug watch-list was apprehended during a shabu buy-bust operation in Maguindanao, according to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

PDEA Director General Aaron Aquino on Wednesday identified the couple as Abdul Nasser Guiabal Giono, alias “Abusama,” 40; and Maricel Diocolano Guiono, alias “Maricel” or “Marisa,” 37.

Abusama and Maricel were caught packing one piece of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet of suspected shabu weighing more or less five grams, with an estimated value of P25,000, Aquino said.

Also confiscated from the couple were one caliber .45 pistol, one caliber .45 magazine, five pieces of live ammunition, one mobile phone and buy-bust money, the PDEA chief said.

Aquino said they were arrested by PDEA regional operatives in cooperation with 2nd Maneuver Platoon Provincial Public Safety Company (PPSC) personnel as well as local police in Barangay Semba, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao.

The drug suspects were charged for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the “Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002,” and violation of Republic Act 10591 or the “Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Act,” according to PDEA. /je
