Escapee betrayed by cousin he had asked for money

/ 06:42 AM January 12, 2018

Thanks to his cousin, one of the most wanted drug suspects in Tarlac province was arrested in Quezon City on Wednesday afternoon after escaping from detention on Dec. 26.

Ricarlos Luna, 31, was recaptured by the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) in Cubao, after one of the suspect’s relatives alerted authorities about his location.

A report to Chief Supt. Guillermo Eleazar, QCPD director, said they found Luna at the entrance of New Farmers Plaza mall, where he was supposed to meet his cousin—the informant—whom the suspect earlier contacted to borrow money.

The Tarlac police listed Luna as the second most drug suspect in Gerona town. He was arrested on Jan. 6, 2017, for drug possession and sale. On Dec. 25, he complained of stomach ache and was brought out of jail to the provincial hospital. He escaped from there the following night. —Jhesset O. Enano
