Residents of the Visayas and Mindanao should brace for another weather disturbance, a new tropical depression that is expected to enter the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) on Wednesday, Dec. 20, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

In a 5.pm. press conference on Saturday, Pagasa said the new weather disturbance was spotted 2,135 km east of Mindanao.

Pagasa said it would name the tropical depression “Vinta” once it enters PAR. It will be the 22nd storm to enter the PAR this year.

It is predicted to make landfall on Eastern Mindanao or Eastern Visayas on Dec. 23 if it would stay on its current track.

The tropical depression winds would reach up to least 45 kph, according to Pagasa. /atm
