LOOK: ‘Urduja’ pummels Tacloban City
Just a few days before Christmas, tropical storm “Urduja” entered the Philippine area of responsibility and ripped through the Visayas provinces, packing strong winds and heavy rains.
In the photos provided by the district office of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) in Tacloban City, Urduja torn off the ceilings of most establishments and mangled several roofing sheets.
LTFRB board member Aileen Lizada forwarded to reporters photos taken by the agency’s Region 8 District Office personnel on Saturday morning.
The agency’s district office is located in Downtown Tacloban, close to the Tacloban Port by Cancabato Bay.
Tacloban City was placed under a state of calamity on Friday after city council members signed Resolution No. 319 due to severe flooding in villages across the city.
