Motorcycle rider dies in road mishap in Tagbilaran

TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol—A man was killed while a backrider was severely injured after the motorcycle they were riding slammed into an electric post along J.A. Clarin Street in this city on Thursday.

The driver identified as Charlie Cepe, 20, a resident of Barangay Dampas in Tagbilaran City, died on the spot due to severe head injury.

Meanwhile, Cepe’s passenger, Ronmar Bernales, 22, of Barangay Tangkigan in Mabini town, broke his right leg.  He was rushed to Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Bernales told radio station DYTR that they had a drinking spree at the Liteport on Gallares Street in Poblacion II prior to the accident at 3:30 p.m.

Cepe was driving home and when they reached J.A. Clarin Street, he lost control of his motorcycle causing it to slide toward a gutter and straight to an electric post of Bohol Light Company Inc.

They were not also wearing helmets during the incident. /jpv
