Cloudy skies, scattered rains in Southern Luzon, Visayas due to ITCZ
Despite the exit of Typhoon “Paolo” (international name Lan) from the country, an intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will continue to dampen Southern Luzon and Visayas, the weather bureau said in its Sunday afternoon forecast.
Due to the ITCZ, Bicol region, MIMAROPA, Western Visayas and Zamboanga Peninsula will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in its 4:00 p.m. bulletin.
Meanwhile, the agency said Metro Manila and the rest of country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers mostly in the afternoon or evening, due to localized thunderstorms.
Pagasa said Typhoon Lan was located outside the Philippine area of responsibility (Par) at 1,670 km Northeast of Basco, Batanes at 3:00 p.m.
It was moving northward to Japan at 40 km/h, with maximum winds of 185 km/h and gusts of 225 km/h. /je
