The municipality of Cabadbaran in Agusan del Norte province became a city by virtue of Republic Act No. 9434. Over a year later, on July 28, the town’s conversion into a city was ratified by voters through a plebiscite. As of 2015, Cabadbaran City had a population of 73,639.
July 28, 1909
Governor General William Cameron Forbes recommended the reconstruction of Dr. Jose Rizal’s house in Dapitan City, Zamboanga del Norte province. The house in Barangay Talisay was Rizal’s place of exile from 1892 to 1896 and is now the Rizal Shrine. Maintained by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines, the house lies at the foot of a mountain, which is a Department of Environment and Natural Resources reserve.
