The extended validity will be rolled out in other regions next month—Nov. 2 for regions 3, 4, 7, and 11; Nov. 7 for regions 1, 2, 6, 10, and 12; and Nov. 14 for regions 5, 8, 0, Cordillera Administrative Region, and CARAGA.

Professional and non-professional driver’s licenses were previously valid for only three years.

In a bid to lessen queues and crack down on red tape amid backlogs, the DOTr announced in August the plan to extend the validity of driver’s licenses, as expressed by President Rodrigo Duterte in his first State of the Nation Address. CDG/rga
