PANTABANGAN, Nueva Ecija—The body of a 44-year-old farmer, who had confessed to using narcotics to the police, was found hanging from a mango tree in the middle of his farm on Tuesday (Oct. 11).

The family of Lopito Evangelista said the farmer may have committed suicide. Evangelista’s remains were discovered in Barangay (village) Cadaclan at 2:45 p.m. A handwritten suicide note was tucked inside a pocket.

The police said there were no indications of foul play. Investigators were told Evangelista and his wife had been engaged in heated discussions about his drug habit.
