Uniformed extortionists

/ 02:22 AM October 24, 2011

Muntinlupa Police patrol car with plate number SJH 167 just extorted P1,000 from the driver of our truck for an alleged traffic violation. The policemen in this patrol car prey on the drivers of trucks and vans on Muntinlupa National Road. They cover their name plates or stay inside the police car so that they cannot be identified.—Anonymous

Bad practice

I just want to ask the Department of Public Works and Highways or the Quezon City Engineer’s Office about the road blocking being done on several streets in the city. There is nothing wrong with the roads that are being repaired so why are they being destroyed and then repaired? This practice has been going on for years. What a waste of taxpayers’ money. We call on the President to go after the people behind this practice. Some of your people may be pulling a fast one on you.—Jose de Guzman, 35, Quezon City

More cops needed

Robbers riding tandem on motorcycles are going around Marikina City and preying on people going to work early in the morning. The latest victim was a teacher whose bag was snatched at Rajah Matanda near Paraiso, Barangay Parang. Attention, Mayor Del de Guzman, we need more policemen and Bantay Bayan personnel.—Jun of Marikina City

Enforcer a violator

Isn’t there a law which prohibits smoking in public? I just saw a traffic enforcer in Quezon City who was smoking while he was manning the flow of traffic on East Avenue near the corner of V. Luna Road in front of the National Statistics Office.—Jess Jose, Quezon City
