CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela—An 80-year-old woman was found dead from stab wounds on Thursday night (August 4) at her home in Santa Barbara village, a week after her son was murdered.
The body of Socorro Castaneda was discovered by her neighbors and relatives, but investigators have discounted  robbery as motive because her jewelry and cash were not disturbed, said Supt. Manuel Bringas, Ilagan police chief.
The woman’s son, Jun Castaneda, was killed last week by motorcycle-riding gunmen.
Her grandson, Bellong Sebes, said Castaneda may have fought her assailant based on the blood splatter around the crime scene./rga
