Son of ex-mayor shot dead in Ormoc City
ORMOC CITY, Philippines—The son of a former mayor in Isabel town, Leyte was shot dead by a still unidentified gunman on Friday morning here.
Eric Fuentes, 45 and a contractor, was sitting on his motorcycle while talking to a friend along the national highway in Barangay (villaged) San Isidro, Ormoc City, about 9:30 a.m. when two men on board a motorcycle drove by.
The backrider of the motorcycle repeatedly shot Fuentes, a resident of Dona Feliza Mejia Village here, said Senior Insp. Benjamin Lodo of Police Station 3 here.
He suffered nine gunshot wounds and died upon reaching the hospital.
The police have yet to determine the motive for the killing.
Fuentes was the son of former Mayor Roberto Fuentes, who served three terms from 1998 to 2007. RAM/rga
