AFP grateful to Duterte’s ‘genuine concern’ for soldiers

President Rodrigo Duterte’s recent pledge to a new hospital building and modern equipment at the Armed Forces of the Philippines Medical Center (AFPMC) was a manifestation of “his genuine concern on well-being of his soldiers,” the military said on Wednesday.

The AFP expressed its gratitude to the President, who visited the military hospital in Quezon City on Tuesday night.

During his visit to wounded soldiers, he promised P500 million for the new building and state-of-the-art equipment.

“We are very grateful for the Commander-in-Chief for this assistance. The AFP Medical Center that caters primarily to military personnel and their immediate dependents has improved significantly in the recent years. But a lot of improvements may still be done to ensure that the hospital is able to provide premiere medical attention to patients who deserve that kind of treatment,” AFP spokesperson Col. Edgard Arevalo said.

On his visit, the President also reiterated his promise to increase their salary this month.

Duterte’s visit to the AFPMC was the second military hospital he visited in two weeks. RAM
