2 Taiwanese drug suspects given more time to answer case

THE Department of Justice (DOJ) gave  two alleged Taiwanese drug traffickers three more days to answer the drug case filed against them by the police.

Joint operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Special Enforcement Service (PDEA-SES) and the Philippine National Police-Anti-Illegal Drugs Group (PNP-AIDG) seized P195-million worth of suspected shabu from the two in a raid on June 14 in Parañaque City.

During Monday’s preliminary investigation hearing, the lawyer of Shien Ming Tseng aka “Ming” and Zheng-Kai Huang aka “Chua” sought for more time to prepare their counter-affidavits.

The two respondents, through counsel Nestor Ifurung, also manifested that a representative from the Taiwan Economic Cultural Office (TECO) had already visited the two at their detention facility at the PNP-AIDG headquarters in Camp Crame.

Complainants PDEA and PNP-AIDG were present at the hearing.

The respondents are facing a case for violation of Section 5 (Transportation of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The respondents’ group is allegedly operating in the National Capital Region, Region 3 and Region 4-A./ac/rga/ac
