Fire razes registry of deeds building in Isabela, 1 hurt

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela–A Friday morning fire burned down the building that housed the Land Registration Authority office and the local Registry of Deeds in Alibagu village, and injured a government janitor.

John Vicera, the office janitor, was hurt while attempting to rescue government documents. Land titles and other vital documents were destroyed in the blaze.

Firefighters responded to the fire that started at 2:10 a.m. They have yet to determine its origin, said Fire Supt. Angel Diquiatco, Ilagan City fire protection chief.

The firefighting units from different towns and cities in Isabela helped contain the fire. CDG/rga
