BULAKAN, Bulacan—A 45-year-old lineman of the Manila Electric Company (Meralco) died while helping contain a fire that erupted on Thursday in his neighborhood in Barangay (village) Tibig, according to a belated report from the Bureau of Fire Protection.

Jorge Anselmo Jr. died at 8 a.m. after suffering a heart attack while disconnecting the power lines leading to houses which were in the path of a fire that had already gutted another house, said Bulakan fire chief Eugenio Santos.

Anselmo was rushed to a hospital by responding firefighters from neighboring Bocaue town but the lineman was pronounced dead on arrival./rga
