The camp of Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo on Thursday said the leading vice presidential candidate has forgiven her bashers on social media.

In a press conference at Robredo’s headquarters in Microtel Acropolis Eastwood, spokesperson Georgina Hernandez said Robredo has forgiven her bashers and that Robredo did not even wait for her bashers to ask for forgiveness first.

In a phone patch interview with GMA News’ “Unang Hirit” Thursday morning, Robredo said she has forgiven the bashers, and said she wanted to focus instead on helping the country instead of fighting on social media.

Robredo received battering from supporters of Sen. Bongbong Marcos online since she overtook the latter in the vice presidential race according to the unofficial count of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) transparency server in a slim 200,000-lead.

On Twitter, 16-year-old Sofia Romualdez, the daughter of former actress and newly elect Tacloban city mayor Cristina Gonzales-Romualdez, cursed Robredo and called her stupid after she took the lead from Marcos, who placed second in the unofficial count of the Comelec server.

The Marcoses and Romualdezes are relatives through the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos’ wife Ilocos Norte Rep. Imelda Romualdez Marcos.

“The tweet read: “ P******** leni bobo naman yan walang alam yan t****** nyo.” Sofia’s mother Cristina has since apologized for her daughter’s actions.

On Facebook, a young netizen made a comment that Robredo should have been the one who died in the plane crash in 2012 that killed Robredo’s husband former Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo.

In a television interview, Robredo said she was tempted to tell the netizen that she had also wished the same.

But Robredo said she opted to focus instead on the “bigger picture” of the country’s plight.

“Ano ‘yung bigger picture? Hahayaan mo bang ma-drag down ka nung mga hindi mabubuti” Syempre kailangan ‘yung focus mo hindi nawawala kasi andito ka para makapagsilbi ng tao,” she added.

Marcos had accused Robredo of cheating her way to the vice presidency after a new computer command was put in the Comelec transparency server to shave votes from Marcos’ lead for Robredo to overtake him.

But Comelec chairperson Andy Bautista on Thursday ruled out the allegation of automated fraud, adding that the new script in the server was only intended to correct the spelling mistake on a presidential candidate.

Refusing to accept defeat, Marcos had decried alleged massive cheating by the Liberal Party, supposedly the administration’s “Plan B” to rig the elections to make Robredo win and then have presumptive president Rodrigo Duterte impeached in a bid to have the Liberal Party regain control of Malacañang.
