Roxas to Duterte supporters: How many times will you turn a blind eye?
How many times will you turn a blind eye to his blatant lies?
This was the reaction of Liberal Party standard-bearer Mar Roxas to Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte’s supporters who dismissed the issue of the latter’s alleged secret bank account as black propaganda to discredit their candidate.
“Well they can say what they want. Pero muli, nahuli na naman ‘yung kanilang kandidato na nagsinungaling. Ilang beses sila magpipikit mata sa kasinungalingan na lantarang ginagawa?” Roxas said on Thursday.
In a media briefing at the LP headquarters in Cubao, Quezon City, Roxas showed to the media supposed documents and deposit slips proving that Duterte and his daughter Sara had a Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) account which the mayor earlier denied owning.
Roxas also signed in front of reporters a notarized affidavit of transparency opening all his accounts, assets and financial transactions for public scrutiny.
Vice presidential candidate Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, who is supporting presidential candidate Senator Grace Poe, revealed to the Inquirer that Duterte’s account in BPI’s Julia Vargas Avenue branch in Pasig City contained P211 million deposits.

“Hindi na kailangan ng isang oras ng pagmumura, pang-iinsulto, kung ano-ano pang istorya… Alam mo ang depensa ng walang depensa, parati, ke-kwestyunin ang motibo, ke-kwestyunin ang impormasyon. Ito, Simpleng-simple lang. Yes or no. Wala nang mahabang kwento,” he added.
In a campaign sortie in Bataan, Duterte said that contrary to the claims of Trillanes that the account contained millions of pesos, he said his bank accounts only have about P50,000 and P17,500.
