/ 12:12 AM April 20, 2016

Paco Park in Manila used to be a municipal cemetery built by the Dominicans.

In 1807, an order for the construction of a cemetery in Bagumbayan was issued due to the outbreak of a cholera epidemic in Manila.

In April 22, 1822, the cemetery in Paco was officially inaugurated.

Burials at the Paco Cemetery ceased in 1912. In January, Paco Park was declared one of the country’s National Cultural Treasures by the National Museum in the Philippines. Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
