Cebu’s Bakud party backs Poe, Escudero
DANAO CITY, Cebu – The Durano-led political party in Cebu’s 5th district has formally announced their support for the presidential bid of Sen. Grace Poe and her running mate, Sen. Francis “Chiz” Escudero.
Danao Vice Mayor Ramon “Red” Durano VI, president of the Barug Alang sa Kauswagan ug Demokrasya (Bakud), on Thursday said the decision was reached after a series of consultations with their mayors and barangay captains.
Danao Mayor Nito Durano, Red’s father, said the Bakud party made a commitment to especially support Poe after he allowed his son, Rep. Ace Durano of Cebu’s 5th district, to be her campaign manager.
But the announcement was withheld because of the pending disqualification case against Poe.
But the Supreme Court has ruled that Poe is qualified to run for president since she is a natural-born Filipino and has met the 10-year residency rule.
