‘Nona’ increased water levels in Luzon dams due to heavy rains—Pagasa

Typhoon “Nona” (international name: “Melor”) has increased water levels in most dams in Luzon after dumping heavy rains since Monday.

Angat Dam in Bulacan was at 210.90 meters (m), nearing its spilling level of 212 m, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Wednesday.

In San Roque Dam, water increased to 279.12 m, nearing its 280 m spilling level.

Binga Dam in Benguet was at 574.20 m, close to its spilling level of 575 m.

In a press briefing, Pagasa said that it might release water in Angat Dam soon because of the rising water levels.

One gate with a height of 0.5 m will also be opened in Binga Dam at 2 p.m. Its spilled water will flow to San Roque Dam. RAM
