“Only the people of the Philippines have the right to decide if I should continue to serve in a greater capacity as president,” Senator Grace Poe said on Tuesday.
Poe took to social media to insist that she is a natural-born Filipino and is qualified to run for president.
“Ako po ay isang (I am a) natural-born Filipino citizen under the Philippine constitution, customary international law and domestic laws. This is the truth and I have nothing to hide,” she said.
Using hashtags (#) FIGHT4POE and ForTheGreaterGood, Poe urged Filipinos to protect their freedom.
The senator, in her Facebook account, also posted the pictures of four legal experts who believe that she is qualified to seek the presidency.
The four were former Supreme Court Chief Justice Artemio Panganiban, former Commission on Elections chairman Sixto Brillantes Jr., former senator Rene Saguisag and lawyer Katrina Legarda.

The Comelec’s Second Division earlier ruled to disqualify Poe from the 2016 presidential race for allegedly making false statements about her period of residency in the country and her status as a natural-born Filipino. Poe has pending appeal at the Comelec en banc.

Despite this, Poe reiterated that she would not withdraw from the race until all questions surrounding her candidacy are resolved with finality by the Supreme Court. She called on the people to be vigilant against attempts to subvert the will of the people to choose their own leaders.
“Tuloy po ang laban natin. Para sa ating mga kababayan, umasa po kayong patuloy akong tatalima sa inyong kagustuhan para sa halalan sa 2016 (Our fight continues. To my fellow Filipinos, you can count on me to heed your desires for the 2016 elections),” she said.
Poe said various attempts to disqualify her as a candidate for the highest position in the land were meant to “weaken her support from the electorate, confuse the public and ultimately remove her name from the official ballot.”
