Roxas confident of solid support from Kris and Aquino sisters

THE presidential sisters–and yes, including Kris Aquino–are solidly behind Liberal Party standard-bearer Mar Roxas.

This came from Roxas himself who said that the sisters of President Aquino–Ballsy Aquino-Cruz, Pinky Aquino-Abelleda, Viel Aquino-Dee and Kris Aquino—have given their all-out support for him and his running mate Leni Robredo in the presidential contest next year.

Asked if the sisters will support Roxas in 2016, the presidential candidate said at the Meet the Inquirer Multimedia forum: “Two things, the short answer is yes. But I think we must put this in context.”

Roxas explained that the sisters of his close friend Aquino have always been private people and mum on their political preferences.

But their support was evident when they showed up at Roxas and Robredo’s filing of candidacy last October.

“When we filed our COCs, ate Ballsy and Viel were there, Pinky also on another occasion has showed her support, as well as Kris; we had a conversation. So I’m comfortable that the president and his family supports ‘Daang Matuwid’, and Mar, and Leni,” said Roxas.

Before Vice President Jejomar Binay turned his back on the administration, Kris declared on television that she and her sisters will support Binay for president.

Aquino chose Roxas, who had given way for the former in the 2010 presidential race, to become the ruling party’s standard-bearer in 2016.
