Asuki beats brgy. Day-as
ASUKI Motors got their title bid in the 2nd Shalom Cable Technologies Inc. Cup as they outlasted barangay Day-as, 80-72, during the opening game of the tournament over at the Cogon Pardo gym.
Asuki led early on and had a 34-24 lead at the turn and even extended their advantage to 19 points behind the stellar play of former Cesafi and Jr. NBA MVP, and current La Salle Green Archer Mark Jayven Tallo.
However, Day-As managed to gain a foothold in the fourth period and even took the lead, 62-60.
But Asuki had an answer as Tallo’s brother, John Michael, scored eight points including the bonus freethrow which put them up by nine to give them the win.
The younger Tallo ended with a game-high 30 points while the other Tallo added 14 to pace Asuki Motors.
In the other game, the Southwestern University Cobras Team B blasted the Cebu Eastern College Dragons, 93-64, behind the 20 points that was scored by Clarito Hernando./Correspondent Jonas Panerio
