ZAMBOANGA CITY – A school principal in Basilan faces charges of murder and frustrated murder after attacking a couple in Isabela City on Monday.

Inspector Arnold Espares, the operations chief of Isabela City Police, said Dominador Catapan, the principal of Ubit Elementary School, attacked couple Arnulfo Sr. and Norma Enriquez over a long-standing spat.

“A personal grudge prompted Catapan to attack the couple using a sword,” he said.

Catapan initially refused to yield, according to Espares.
The suspect only surrendered after a negotiation conducted by responding policemen. Julie Alipala
