Hernando Iriberri is new AFP chief

Lieutenant General Hernando Iriberri assumed office as the 46th Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines on Friday.
Iriberri replaced outgoing AFP chief Gen. Gregorio Catapang who will reach the retirement age of 56 on Saturday.
President Benigno Aquino III led the change of command ceremony at the Tejeros Hall at Camp Aguinaldo.
The ceremony was held indoors due to bad weather.
Article continues after this advertisementIriberri is a member of the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1983. He was named as the Army Commanding General in February 2014 before he was designated as the new AFP chief.
