Suspensions in Manila, San Juan, Caloocan, Parañaque, Quezon City
Classes in all levels in both public and private schools were suspended Monday afternoon in the cities of Manila and San Juan, and from pre-school to high school level (both public and private) in Caloocan, Quezon City, and Parañaque City.
In an interview with radio station dzMM, Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada said classes in all levels and work in local government offices, except those involved in disaster response, would be suspended starting noon.
Parañaque administrator Fernando Soriano and a representative of Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista also announced respective class suspensions.
In San Juan, Mayor Guia Gomez said work in local government offices would push through as there were no reported flooding in the city.
Caloocan City Mayor Oscar Malapitan said classes at the University of Caloocan will also be suspended. Suspension of classes in private universities would depend on school administrators, he said.
Local governments in Metro Manila and adjacent towns have declared class suspensions after the weather bureau issued a yellow rainfall warning over the metropolis and its environs due to the southwest monsoon.
