Girl killed, 15 hurt in road accidents
A 5-year-old girl was killed and 15 persons were wounded in separate road accidents in the towns of Sta. Fe and Balamban, Cebu.
Police said the girl was hit by a Toyota Revo while crossing a street in barangay Ocoy, Sta. Fe town early morning last Thursday.
Police said the girl was headed to her mother who was selling food at the other side of the road.
The girl died a few hours after she was brought to the Bantayan District Hospital.
The driver of the car, Seth Bitoon, a maintenance superintendent of the Bantayan Island Power Corp., was detained after the accident.
SPO1 Sheila Ilustrisimo of the Sta. Fe police said there was an ongoing settlement between the girl’s family and Bitoon.

Police said the wounded persons were headed to the town proper to watch a talent show, which was part of the town’s fiesta celebration.
Police said Raul Sabalande, 34, was drunk while driving the multicab. Sabalande owns the vehicle.
P02 Hannibal Larida, investigator of the Balamban police, said it was possible that the passengers at the back of the multicab were having a drinking session while they were traveling after an empty pitcher was found at the accident site.
Some of the victims sustained broken bones.
