Weather disturbance now a tropical depression

MANILA, Philippines–The weather disturbance seen to enter the Philippine area of responsibility on Monday  has intensified into a tropical depression.

Fernando Cada, weather forecaster of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration, told INQUIRER.net on Friday that the tropical depression could intensify into a storm as it gathers strength at sea.

It will be locally named Glenda once it enters the Philippine area of responsibility.

The weather disturbance is forecast to follow the path of typhoon ‘Florita’ (Neoguri), which did not directly affect the country.

A thunderstorm advisory was also issued by the weather bureau past 5 p.m. in portions of Cavite and Rizal which may persist within two hours.

Parts of Metro Manila (North Caloocan, Quezon City, Marikina, Taguig and Muntinlupa) within the next two hours.
