A 33-year-old woman was arrested on Saturday for allegedly pilfering over P500,000 in cash from a dialysis clinic in Quezon City.

Ofelia Brazas of Rodriguez town in Rizal province was nabbed by operatives of the Quezon City Police District’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit based on a complaint filed by St. John Biocare and Dialysis Center Foundation Inc. on Quezon Avenue where she has worked as a cashier since September last year.

According to case investigator SPO1 Joselito Gagaza, Brazas stole P572,000 from the clinic’s cash collections from October to December last year and between February and March by making it appear that she had deposited the money.

Brazas submitted fake deposit slips from two banks where the clinic had accounts as proof that the money had been deposited, he added.

Gagaza said the theft was discovered only last Friday after a member of the clinic’s accounting staff, Florifel Sisican, conducted an audit.
