AFP forms new body to investigate Cudia appeal

MANILA, Philippines—A special investigation board was formed by the Armed Forces of the Philippines  (AFP) to investigate new matters raised by ex-cadet Aldrin Jeff Cudia following his appeal to President Benigno Aquino III.

In a memorandum adressed to Philippine Miltary Academy (PMA) Superintendent   Major General Oscar Lopez,  it said the newly created  special investigation board should look into the matters raised by Cudia during his meeting with President Aquino on Saturday, a day before his supposed graduation from the academy.

The memorandum said “The board will also review and evaluate the findings made relative to the reccomendation of the Philippine Military Academy to separate CDT First Class Cudia from the Academy for violation of the Honor Code pursuant to Section VII of the Cadet  Corps Armed Forces of the Philippines Regulations Series of 2008 and be barred from future appointment and/or admission as cadet and shall not be permitted to qualify from any entrance requirements  to the Academy.”

It added, “The board shall have authority to summon witnesses and require submission of pertinent, documents, if any, and recommend appropriate actions based on their findings.”

Major General Crisologo Nayve of the AFP heads the said investigation board.

The order was signed by Rear Admiral Philip L. Cacayan as commanded byAFP Chief General  Emmanuel T. Bautista.

On Saturday, March 15, Aquino deferred decision on Cudia and instead directed his military chief to investigate the cadet’s case.
