Sen. Estrada: I’m not eyeing for Manila mayor, jail ‘mayor’ perhaps
MANILA, Philippines – Senator Jose “Jinggoy” Estrada denied on Tuesday reports that he was gunning for mayor in Manila in 2016, but joked about becoming a “mayor” in jail.
“Hindi totoo na ako’y tatakbong mayor (It’s not true that I’m running for mayor),” Estrada told reporters.
“Pag nakulong ako baka mayor na nga ( If I get imprisoned, then I may become a mayor),” he said followed by a hearty laugh.
Estrada was among the senators charged with plunder at the Office of the Ombudsman in connection with the P10 billion “pork barrel” scam. But he vehemently denied any involvement in the scam.
