CDN bags first win
THE CEBU DAILY NEWS (CDN) Siloys salvaged some measure of pride and respect, nailing their first win since the team was formed in July with a gritty 84-74 win over the Mabolo Community Basketball Association (MCBA)-Team C at the Mabolo Sports Complex.
With an instant reinforcement providing a big lift and Reynald Tiro turning out to be the surprise package, there was no stopping the Siloys from ending a four-game slide that included a recent lopsided 75-120 debacle at the hands of the Cecaba All-Stars.
Richel Bamba was asked to suit up for CDN when only four Siloys arrived on time for the friendly game. Bamba proved an able reinforcement as he erupted for a game-high 29 points.
Not really known as a scorer, Tiro surprised everyone with his offensive explosion as he banged away 10 points.
Tiro came off the bench and made an instant impact, making his first four attempts—all bank shots from the right corner–that kept the Siloys in the thick of things when MCBA took off to a hot start.
Calvin Cordova and Johnny Tabuco added 16 and 12 points, respectively, while Atoy Lagunay, Jay Labra and Edouard Illut combined for 17.
